We’re calling on all our Stevenson Pirates to join our 2011 Read-A-Thon.
The read-a-thon is a great way to keep your child reading this summer while raising much needed funds for your school.
So how do you get started?
First of all, ask your family and everyone you know to pledge a dollar for every book your child reads this summer. Alternatively pledgers can opt for a flat fee pledge. Then all that’s left to do is get reading!
It’s a fun way to really make a difference for the school.
Reasons why you should get involved!
- Research shows that students who don’t read during the summer actually lose reading skills that must be relearned in August.
- Prizes will be awarded to the top readers from each grade who read the most books as well as the three readers who bring in the most money.
- If every student (all 400) brings in 10 dollars our PTA would start the year off with $4,000! Our school is feeling the effects of state budget cuts, which makes PTA’s fundraising efforts more important that ever!
So Moms, Dads and Kids, let’s get reading!
