Green Team Update
The New Year has brought our Green Team some very welcome news – we have a volunteer who has stepped up and offered to open the Old Garden for our kids! Liza Jaramillo is the thoughtful parent who has answered the call. She has one child in Mrs. Anderson’s class and another child in Mr. Blank’s class. Liza will open the Garden gates and be out there supervising most lunch hours. So please let your kids know they can come back to our Garden!
There’s a couple of bits of great news – the winter garden the kids planted the first week of November is looking mighty fine! With veggies readier and readier to eat! We tried some of the broccoli this evening and it was real yummy. Same with the snap peas. So we are going to be treating the kids to some great vegetables over the next week.
Secondly, please join us as Stevenson hosts a free “Composting Workshop” on campus this Saturday, Jan. 30th at 10 am. It’s presented by the Burbank recycling Center. Please feel free to walk or ride your bikes. But if you end up driving there will be parking on the playground if you enter at the California Street gate. It should last about an hour and a half. And they will be handing out free composting bins to those who would like one. Bring the kids, bring the family and join us. Look for a flyer in your child’s take home packet this week.
